    Available courses

The Eclampsia for Delivering Practitioner online training course describes the risk factors of hypertensive disorders in pregnancy, as well as to identify the signs and symptoms of the obstetric emergency eclampsia. Differential diagnoses of seizures in pregnancy will be discussed and the acute treatment of the eclamptic patient will be explored. As eclampsia can occur at various stages in pregnancy, treatment and delivery options based on the clinical presentation of the patient are described and also demonstrated in the clinical scenarios. Patient counseling regarding risk of eclamptic events in future pregnancies is discussed.

The Umbilical Cord Prolapse for the Delivering Practitioner online course develops a working knowledge of the clinical presentation and management of the labor and delivery emergency Umbilical Cord Prolapse. This training incorporates the use of human simulation training methodologies for both training and assessment of competency.

The Breech Delivery for the Delivering Practitioner online training course develops a working knowledge of the clinical presentation and management of the labor and delivery emergency Breech Delivery. This training incorporates the use of human simulation training methodologies for both training and assessment of competency.

The Operative Vaginal Delivery for the Delivering Practitioner online training course develops a working knowledge of the clinical presentation and management of the labor and delivery emergency Operative Vaginal Delivery. This training incorporates the use of human simulation training methodologies for both training and assessment of competency.

The Shoulder Dystocia for Hospital Nursing online training course familiarizes the nurse who is working in the obstetrical environment for recognition, assessment, and appropriate initial treatment of the gravid patient when shoulder dystocia occurs. A brief assessment of the infant after delivery is included. This training incorporates the use of human simulation training methodologies for both training and assessment of competency.

The Postpartum Hemorrhage for Hospital Nursing online training course familiarizes the nurse who is working in the obstetrical environment for recognition, assessment, and appropriate initial treatment of the gravid patient in postpartum hemorrhage, particularly in the first 24 hours after delivery. This training incorporates the use of human simulation training methodologies for both training and assessment of competency.

The Eclampsia for Hospital Nursing online training course describes the risk factors of hypertensive disorders in pregnancy, as well as to identify the signs and symptoms of the obstetric emergency eclampsia.

The Umbilical Cord Prolapse for Hospital Nursing online course describes the risk factors in pregnancy that can contribute to umbilical cord prolapse, as well as the various clinical presentations that can occur with cord prolapse. Acute treatment of umbilical cord prolapse is discussed and further management decisions and delivery options are explored. Clinical simulation scenarios are included to provide practical experience when confronted with this obstetric emergency.

The Breech Delivery for Hospital Nursing online training course familiarizes the nurse who is working in the obstetrical environment for coach and reassure the patient when breech delivery occurs. This training incorporates the use of human simulation training methodologies for both training and assessment of competency.

Welcome to the MUSST Online course focused on protecting healthcare workers during the care of patients with high consequence infectious diseases. For the purposes of this course we will focus on Ebola virus and use this high-consequence pathogen as a model for healthcare provider and healthcare setting preparedness. The objectives of the online course include: Knowledge of infectious diseases classifications and pertinent definitions. Discussion of Ebola virus disease, its history, clinical characteristics, routes of transmission and treatment strategies. Discussion of key aspects of infection prevention and control including specific strategies to mitigate transmission of Ebola virus: Administrative infection control Environmental infection control Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Master Donning and Doffing of PPE Master procedural and emergency skills practiced in a high risk infectious disease treatment area.

The Ebola “Control Group” Course designed to protect healthcare workers during the care of patients with high consequence infectious diseases.  Emerging high-risk infectious diseases represent a persistent and recurring threat to global public health.  The first two decades of the 21st century saw the emergence of highly pathogenic viruses including Severe Acute Respiratory (SAR) virus, Middle Eastern Respiratory Coronavirus (MERs-CoV), unprecedented outbreaks of Ebola, Lassa Virus, and H1N1 influenza pandemics. A critical feature of these epidemics has been the rapid regional, and often global spread, with high mortality in each of these outbreaks including countries with robust healthcare settings.  The control group is 8 participants similar to the 16 other participants who will have instruction and practice in their training regarding safe practices using personal protective equipment (PPE) identical to this group.  The control group is similar to the nurses in Dallas Texas who cared for an Ebola patient with the latest PPE, but had received minimal training in how to use it.

The Shoulder Dystocia for Delivering Practitioner online training course develops a working knowledge of the clinical presentation and management of the labor and delivery emergency Shoulder Dystocia. This training incorporates the use of human simulation training methodologies for both training and assessment of competency.
